Seed Systems Group Midterm Strategy Review

The Seed Systems Group (SSG) works to establish regular, dependable supply of high-yielding, resilient seed of a wide range of food crops among poor, smallholder farmers to help them improve their crop yields, nutritional status, and income.

In 2020, Seed Systems Group (SSG) launched a five-year strategy aimed at transforming seed systems and achieving productivity gains on a par with other emerging economies in left-behind countries in Africa. In 2023, SSG conducted a mid-term strategy review meeting.

ECI-Africa facilitated this review meeting; its objectives were to assess SSG’s progress in light of the COVID-19 impact, identify emerging opportunities, and challenges so as to optimize its impact for greater success. The workshop participants comprised of Board members from SSG, as well as staff members from SSG and Farm Input Promotions Africa (FIPS).

At the end of the meeting, participants were able to identify clear road maps of operation for SSG including its strategic advantage, niche and realign its themes.
